| Chemical Policy Reform in the EU |
|
The new chemical legislation, REACH, entering into force in June 2007 replaced about 40 previous directives, which makes it comprehensive and complex. REACH is aimed to take an integreted approach regulating the production, import and use of chemicals in Europe. The gathering of knowledge about chemicals, their use and marketing was poorly regulated before REACH entered into force.
ChemSec is currentley following the REACH and ROHS legislative processes, as well as focusing on the SIN List project, aiming to speed up the REACH implementation process. The First reading of the review of the RoHS Directive is planed for November 2009. During 2009 ChemSec will actively be working with the RoHS review. More information will be found on the website in fall 2009.
