New SIN List Database Will Assist In Identification of Chemicals of Concern |

New user interface will help legislators, journalists, consumers, investors and manufacturers retrieve information regarding the 356 high-concern chemicals on the SIN List. Since its launch in 2008, the SIN List has developed into a widely-used tool for identifying chemicals of high concern and an important point of reference for a range of regulatory, non-governmental and industry stakeholders.

All relevant SVHCs will be listed on the Candidate List by 2020 |

So far the REACH Candidate List has failed its purpose to list and subsequently restrict or authorise the known Substances of Very High Concern, SVHCs, with only 29 nominations in the past two years. However, a newly announced roadmap including specific number targets gives reason to hope.

ChemSec and other NGOs urge Commissioners to speed up REACH implementation |

ChemSec has joint WWF and other NGOs in a letter to Antonio Tajani and Janez Potocnik, respectively new EU Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship and new EU Commissioner for the Environment, in order to express concern regarding the delayed progress of REACH implementation.

The Nordic Council advises Nordic governments to use the SIN List for public procurement |

In late January the Nordic Council decided to recommend the governments in the Nordic countries to initiate a procurement policy on hazardous substances for public authorities. It is suggested that products containing hazardous chemicals, such as e.g. listed on the SIN-list, should not be purchased when other alternatives are available.
