| How to search in the SIN List Database |
|
Welcome to the SIN List Database! This short guide will provide you with information on how to use the database. How do I search? In the "Search phrase" field you can enter any word you would like to search for in the database. Use an as short phrases as possible, since the database will search for the exact phrase typed in the search field. If you want the entire list of SIN substances, just click "Show entire SIN List 1.1". With the "Search filters" options you can narrow your search. If you type a word in the "Search phrase" field, and choose for example "Possible uses: Electronics", the database will list the SIN substances for which your search word occurs in the name or other description of the substances, which also have been tagged with a possible use in Electronics. You can also leave the "Search phrase" blank and only use the filters to narrow down your search. For example if you want to know the SIN substances that potentially can be found in construction materials, just tick the box "Construction" under "Possible uses" and hit "Search" Expressed in Boolean variablesThe database searches for the word typed in the "Search phrase" field AND your "Search filters" option. Within each filters box (Possible uses, production volume, etc.) OR applies if you choose to tick more than one box.For example Construction OR Electronics under "Possible uses". If you use several different filter boxes AND applies between them Example "Search phrase":[phthalate] AND "Possible uses": [electronics OR paints&pigments] AND "EU SVHC List": [candidate list] Will render four substances fulfilling these search criteria. What does the different Search filters mean, for example "EU SVHC lists"?By putting the mouse over the different Search filter options, for example "Health and Environmental classification" or "Carcinogenic", a short explanatory text will appear on your screen. What can be found in the SIN Database?Only the SIN List substances can be found in the SIN List Database. If you filter your search by choosing "EU SVHC lists: Candidate List", the database will show all SIN List substances on the Candidate List, but not all substances on the Candidate List itself.
