ECHA proposes eight new substances for Candidate List

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) proposes eight new substances for possible inclusion on the Candidate List. The proposal is now open to public consultation and interested parties are invited to comment before 22 April 2010. The Member State Committee will review these comments before ECHA includes these substances on the Candidate List, from which substances are selected for Authorisation.

The eight substances are suggested by the three EU Member States Denmark, France and Germany. All eight substances are proposed because of their potentially serious effects on human health. They are carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or toxic for reproduction.

The eight substances include:

  • Trichloroethylene
  • Boric acid
  • Disodium tetraborate, anhydrous
  • Tetraboron disodium heptaoxide, hydrate
  • Sodium chromate
  • Potassium chromate
  • Ammonium dichromate
  • Potassium dichromate
