Review of the RoHS Directive

The EU revision of the RoHS directive, the Restriction of use of hazardous substances in electrical and
electronic equipment, offers an unique opportunity to drive innovation towards the next generation of
electronic devices. ChemSec builds coalitions with other NGOs and business to promote stronger legislation and the phase out of brominated and chlorinated organic substances within the electronics sector.


 
Report on Consumer Electronics

ChemSec and Clean Production Action launches the report "Greening Consumer Electronics - moving away from bromine and chlorine". The report features seven companies, among them Apple and Sony Ericsson, who have engineered environmental solutions that negate the need for most uses of brominated and chlorinated chemicals.

Strong message to EU regulators
Leading companies within the electronics sector met EU regulators at ChemSec Conference: Moving away from Brominated Flame Retardants and PVC is possible, feasible and already happening. The Conference, arranged in the context of the revision of the RoHS Directive, gathered around 100 representatives from European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, as well as representatives of the electronics sector and trade associations.
