Welcome to the SIN List database

Here is the complete SIN List 2.1 of 626 (updated in February 2013) substances - all of which are identified by ChemSec as fulfilling the criteria for Substances of Very High Concern as defined in the REACH regulation. The database contains substances that are Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMRs), substances that are Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (PBTs and vPvBs) and substances of equivalent level of concern.

Substances with CMR and PBT properties

Depending on what kind of substances you are looking for, you will find different sets of information. For substances with CMR and PBT properties you will find basic information such as classification and risk phrases since they are all officially classified in the EU. Additional information on properties and toxicology can be found at the European Chemicals Bureau website.

Substances of equivalent level of concern

In addition to the information found for CMR and PBT substances you will find (bio)monitoring data illustrating where the equivalent level of concern substances can be found in humans, water, animals or elsewhere in nature. When applicable, there is also information on where these substances are found and on the types of consumer products and articles where they can be present.

Quality of data

The information provided on all of the substances in the SIN List will always, to the best of our knowledge, be accurate, peer-reviewed and updated - regardless of the qualifying reason for being on the SIN List.
