New European research project aims at guiding regulation of EDCs

A multidisciplinary research project “EDC-MixRisk” was recently launched in Stockholm. The project involves universities and institutions from France, Germany, Greece, Finland, Italy, Sweden and the US. The project will study effects of EDC mixtures with focus on children and their development.

– The strength of this project is its interdisciplinary approach which will allows us to learn more about what tests are needed to predict adverse effects in humans. The overall aim is to contribute to a regulatory system that can identify high-risk chemicals and mixtures pro-actively,” says Christina Rudén, who is leading the regulatory aspects of the work.

The project is coordinated by the new research centre Swetox, under the lead of professor Åke Bergman.
