About the role

Our planet is facing a chemical pollution crisis, threatening both ecosystems and human health. Unfortunately, not many are aware of this. It will be your job to get more people to understand this.

A big part of your work will be to craft compelling stories for our readers and followers, as well as for uptake in media outlets. The role will require you to turn complex matters such as chemical pollution and EU politics into engaging content that resonates with a broad audience.

As a Communications Officer, you will be an essential player in ChemSec’s communications team. The role includes writing online articles, sending out newsletters and keeping our websites up to date. An important aspect of what you do will also be to manage our social media channels (especially LinkedIn), create engaging content for them and set up marketing campaigns.

To help us take ChemSec’s communication to the next level, you will need to bring creativity, resourcefulness and a sense of humour to the table. You will also need to stay on top of current social media trends and have an understanding of internet culture and online behaviour.

In addition, should you have experience managing websites and basic knowledge about user experience and best practices in web design, it will also be your responsibility to project lead the development and improvement of ChemSec’s various websites.

We envision you…

  • Are a creative and resourceful content creator who can turn one story into several social media posts
  • Have at least three years of working experience in the field of communications
  • Have proven experience in social media management, content creation and online marketing campaigns
  • Are able to tailor your writing to fit the target audience, ranging from formal and informative to fun and engaging
  • Are proficient in English, both written and oral
  • Are able to work independently and meet deadlines on time
  • Understand the importance of ChemSec’s mission and share our passion for a planet beyond chemical pollution

Other valuable skills include graphic design and video editing, as well as previously mentioned knowledge about user experience, web design and web development/management.

Position details and application process

  • Full-time position to commence as soon as possible
  • Reduced working hours, six weeks’ vacation and a health and wellness allowance
  • Hybrid work. Minimum three days a week working from ChemSec’s office in central Gothenburg, Sweden.

Please send your CV together with a cover letter to jobs@chemsec.org by February 2, 2025. Write “Application Communications Officer” in the subject field. Please note that only applications with both CV and cover letter sent to the provided email address will be considered.

Your personal data will be processed in compliance with the European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For inquiries, please contact ChemSec’s Head of Communications, Philip Krook, at +46 739 559 153 or philip.krook@chemsec.org.
