At the same time as we published our list of the world’s top 10 PFAS producers, we sent a little package to the CEOs of Europe’s largest PFAS producers. In that package is a self-test kit to measure PFAS levels in the blood and a personal letter from our executive director.
Since these people lead a company that manufactures PFAS, we believe they should — and maybe also want to — know how much PFAS is actually in their blood.
How much PFAS are in their blood?
PFAS have been detected in 99% of people worldwide. Company leaders must understand that they too are affected by the toxins they produce.
These “forever chemicals” have been linked to numerous negative health impacts, including cancer, immune suppression, thyroid disease, and reduced vaccine response — and are one of the substance groups fuelling the chemical pollution crisis.
Moreover, PFAS do not break down. Every gram produced today will still be circulating in water, soil, and human bodies decades from now.
It’s time to phase out PFAS
Europe’s chemical giants have an outsized responsibility — and an outsized opportunity — to lead a transition away from these chemicals.
The reasons to stop producing PFAS are many.

We are not asking them to do anything they wouldn’t ask of their own customers or employees. We simply believe that those who produce PFAS should be willing to see, firsthand, what they put into the world.
Now, the question is: will they accept our challenge?
