All you need to know about the new SIN List chemicals

Join us for a one-hour webinar deep dive into the science, methodology, and policy relevance of the SIN List update!

Published on 22 Oct 2025

ChemSec has just updated the SIN List for the first time in six years — adding 20+ new hazardous chemicals. Among them are three neurotoxicants, marking a historic first for the SIN List. The inclusion of these brain-damaging chemicals signals a major step forward in recognising neurotoxicity as a serious hazard on par with carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and other highly hazardous substances.

The update also brings in more persistent, mobile, and toxic (PMT) and very persistent, very mobile (vPvM) substances. While they are often overshadowed by the more well-known PFAS group, the pollution costs from these chemicals could reach insurmountable levels if emissions are not stopped.

Expect to learn:

  • Which new chemicals have been added to the SIN list and why
  • The methodology behind selecting these substances
  • Why adding these chemicals and hazard classes to the SIN List is important

Speakers:

  • Dr Hans Peter Arp, Professor at NGI / NTNU
  • Dr Agathe Bour, Ecotoxicologist at Goodpoint
  • Dr Hanna Holmquist, Senior Toxicologist at ChemSec
